DUELMEN, Germany — Friedhelm and Martin Wiesmann are already set on presenting their Wiesmann Roadster MF5 at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, and now an image has leaked previewing the soft-top vehicle before its official debut.
The leaked photo shows the rear end of car, which looks pretty much identical to the coupe variant — minus the bright orange cloth top, of course. Wiesmann also outfits the Roadster MF5 with huge orange alloys to match the convertible roof. The only change from the coupe will be a self-adjusting rear wing to help keep the car glued to the pavement.
Under the hood lies a V10 from BMW (the same one Manhart dropped in the Z4) that makes 507 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, helping the vehicle sprint to 60 mph in less than 3.9 seconds and max out at 193 mph. Some of its features include an aluminum monocoque chassis, multiple airbags, ABS and dynamic stability control.
Only 55 of the hand-crafted two-seaters will be built, and pricing will start at $270,000.
Inside Line says: The drop-top flagship Wiesmann Roadster MF5 will definitely be a sight to see next week in Frankfurt. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
