IRVINE, California — Volvo Cars has added a more affordable version of its new midsize crossover series. The 2010 Volvo XC60 3.2 with front-wheel drive will start at $33,245, including an $850 shipping charge. The price is nearly $5,000 less than that of the range-topping XC60 T6 AWD.

Earlier, Volvo announced that the XC60 T6 AWD will be priced starting at $38,025. The AWD variant of the XC60 3.2 will start at $35,245.

The XC60 3.2 shares a normally aspirated 3.2-liter inline-6 engine with the S80 sedan. The engine is rated at 235 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque.

The XC60 T6 uses the 281-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 engine from the S80. All models come with a standard six-speed automatic transmission.

The XC60 goes on sale this summer at U.S. dealerships.

Inside Line says: With option packages, customers can quickly run up the price on this five-passenger crossover. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
