FRANKFURT, Germany — The Volvo Concept You, said to preview Volvo's next large sedan, debuted on Tuesday at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show.

The Concept You is more "daring" than the Volvo Concept Universe shown at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show, said the automaker.

"Concept You gives a good indication of what you can expect from our next large sedan," said Stefan Jacoby, president and CEO of Volvo Car Corp.

The Concept You features a fastback profile, 21-inch polished aluminum wheels and such high-tech features as a touchscreen integrated into the center console and an in-car file transfer system.

Chinese-owned Volvo is also determined to tap into the brand's Scandinavian roots with the new concept. It gets a wooden floor, a feature seen in Scandinavian homes, according to a statement from Volvo.

Peter Horbury, Volvo's vice president of design, also said that Concept You taps into a "more classic Volvo look" than Concept Universe.

Inside Line says: Volvo still appears to be casting about for just the right look under its new Chinese masters.

Well to my eyes this looks simply fantastic. I like the A7 alright, but this looks better. The front may still look a little unfinished-though better than on the concept universe, and than the current S60-but the remainder of the car is gorgeous. Horbury is a master. I absolutely love how he takes historic cues and meshes them into completely new, original designs. (Yes, original - those people who called this a 'ripoff', get a clue.)

We've purchased seven Volvos in the last 15 years including 2 S80's, an S60, and a C70 convertible. If this concept is an indication of what the next S80 will look like, I've bought my last Volvo.

I think the hatchback look in a future S80 is a great idea it can give the looks of 4 door coupe like, with the safety and functionality of Volvo- That could be a winner it they can position it as a poor mans A7

Rear design great, interior is a concept and will never come to production like this.  the front is absolutely terrible I thought that the XC60 and S60 front will be the base of future Volvos. I was hoping to see enlarged S60 front.

Sexy. The front reminds me of the PV444.

It's actually a limo, with the driver under the hood.

The Universe concept what much more classic in style and very Scandinavian. I Agree 100% with previous posts that is nothing more than a Chinese rip off. Fire the designer of this and push the Universe Concept into production.

This HAD to have been designed by the Chinese contingent within Volvo. The lack of originality in this "ripoff special" shines through. Who doesn't see the A7 in the entire rear 2/3 of the car? They also wanted to go flat-faced like current Audis are (only they actually pull it off), and they ended up with this front end that just doesn't look finished. Well, it looks like Ford-owned Volvo's plans that were already in the pipeline are reaching their end. Here's what we have to look forward to. They'll now become Hyundai/Kia of 8-10 years ago, design-wise (i.e. copycats).

Not good.  I mean, they need to replace the S80 yesterday, but this isn't the way to go.  How can you copy the A7 and the end result be this homely?  Either Volvo has peaked and is on a downward slide, or that stuff about the Chinese not having much design influence was pure BS.  Either way, this is another bad sign that Volvo's future is less than bright.

Wow it looks like they combined the worst part of the Panamera's styling with the best part of the AMC Matador's and A7.

Interior looks clean and sleek as a swede car should, that is the best feature.  The front end says mid 90s hearse and the hatch back styling just says wrong.  If they could ditch the hatch in favor of a 4 door coupe design like the CLS (in other words NOT A FRIGGING HATCH) the front end and keep the only thing that looked nice on the exterior of the car, the tail lights, it may sell in niche like numbers in the US.  Bring it over here as is and it will prove to be a big huge expensive flop for the new chinese owners.
