GOTHENBURG, Sweden — Volvo has released a blurry silhouette of the redesigned V40 on a dedicated Facebook page, ahead of the car's public introduction in early March at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show.
The V40 Facebook includes a digital timer counting down the minutes and seconds until its Geneva unveiling.
The new V40, a compact five-door hatchback, is not expected to be sold in the U.S.
In Europe, the V40 will likely compete against such premium entries as the BMW 1 Series, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class and the Audi A3.
Inside Line says: Can't wait to get a better look at Peter Horbury's latest.

Personally I think V40 will come to the U.S. As Volvo has discontinued both c30 and S40 in the U.S. market, quitely reasonably speaking, this V40 would fill that space.
Hope IL digs a little deeper into it.

The simple fact is, its all about supply and demand, cars like this don't sell well in the US. They may be nice cars to look at and be extremely capable machines in the right market, but until Americans actually want them, instead of thinking they want them and will actually pay for them, I understand Volvo not wanting to bring it over. It would just be a waste of resources and advertising for a product that Americans won't buy. Volvo experienced this first hand with the C30 and the S40, a similar segment the V40 has been designed for. Sure it wasn't a tough decision for Volvo not to bring over the V60, because you don't like wagons over there either.

OK, so Volvo is telling all of us that it can really survive without an entry level model? And they're being serious when they say they have aspirations of expanding their market share? Wow - I guess the business model of all of the other "luxury" automakers just doesn't work and Volvo thinks it knows better.
Once again, the North American market is crossed off the list for the "good stuff"

Ugh.. really? I think I live in the wrong part of the world.. Anything remotely interesting about to go into production you can count on it not coming to the US market..

No V40 in the US. Thanks again, Swedes/China. No really, you're right, we hate premium hatchbacks. No, listen, seriously. I don't want to even see this car here. Yeah, that's right. That is sarcasm, in fact.
