2002 Volvo S80
What's special about it?
At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Volvo announced that its S80 flagship sedan will receive minor updates midway through 2002. Two new colors — Pearl White and Black Sapphire — have been developed in collaboration with DuPont. These will be available on both the 2.9 and T-6 trim levels. Also new are color-coordinated body side moldings and bumpers as well as new laminated protective glass side windows to help prevent theft. The T-6 will have new 17-inch wheels and the Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC) system as standard equipment. Finally, the DVD-based navigation system will gain a larger 6.5-inch display screen.
Why should you care?
Buyers often overlook the S80. Though the 2002 midyear updates are minor, they will likely help to demonstrate that the S80 is a distinctive and luxurious sedan with an excellent reputation for safety. — Brent Romans
