GOTHENBURG, Sweden — Volvo in Europe has launched R-Design editions of the S60 sedan and V60 wagon. Only the S60 R-Design is expected to come to the U.S., arriving at dealers next March.
In Europe, the R-Design package will be available across the S60 and V60 ranges, from the basic 163-horsepower D3 diesel versions to the high-performance 304-hp T6.
Exterior details include a redesigned nose, a rear diffuser shrouding twin exhaust pipes and five-spoke diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels.
In the cabin, the sport bucket seats have been redesigned, with special leather/fabric upholstery available in several variants with contrasting stitching. The cars also feature R-Design steering wheel, shift lever, sport pedals and floor mats.
Hardware modifications on the R-Design cars include an under-hood strut brace that provides more structural stiffness, as well as stiffer rear bushings, more responsive monotube rear shocks and shorter, stiffer springs all around.
Inside Line says: We'll miss the V60 R-Design wagon here in the States. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
