ROCKLEIGH, New Jersey — Volvo is expanding its redesigned S60 sedan range in the U.S., with the addition early next year of a lower-priced T5 model that will start at around $32,000.

Volvo insiders have confirmed that the S60 T5, which has been shown to U.S. dealers, will get a 250-horsepower version of the company's ubiquitous turbocharged five-cylinder engine.

I am glad their is a cheaper option and even happier that it still puts out 250 horse. Nice job Volvo on the looks of the new S60, hopefully the base model doesn't look like a base model (keep 18" wheels and leather as options). I hate to sound like a sissy but realistically people the Turbo 5 will probably enough motor for most.

Drove the T6 and it's a VERY nice car. Unique interior, sharp exterior and 300hp, AWD, 18" rims (and leather) standard for $38k. I hope this car does well. If i were in the market at that price range, i'd give it a shot before any 3 series.

If the S60 performs like the XC60 does, it will be a really nice car. For its class, the XC60 in R design T6 form was really impressive. Rides smoother than an X5, handles as well as an X5 (at least one without the sport suspension damping), and is very quick. This engine was the best turbo I've ever driven, turbo lag is not noticeable, and it is super smooth.
The only hesitation I'd have to buying one is Volvo's relatively poor resale value projections (via KBB). Some would cite lack of prestige as a negative, but I consider it a plus, as I have no interest in driving around in some crazy wants to key or cut off in traffic to prove something.
My dealer experience was also very low key, relaxed, and helpful. Toss in 5 years warranty and free maintenance (including wear and tear items except tires) and it's definitely worth a look if you like going against the grain and not driving what everyone else wants to.

Man...this is like the 3rd article that is not about a Civic, in which people keep somehow bringing up the Civic (I probably could have written that better). I'm a huge Honda fan (despite their future lineup looking pretty disappointing and boring), but even I'm tired of hearing any mention of the Civic.

bearsdkillz, everything seems to look like a civic to you. I agree with beermag, this car looks great in person and the interior is fantastic.
At 32K and 250 HP, this is a much better option then the G25 and IS250.
The first 5 years of service are free, which included brakes, rotors and even windshield wipers.
I have never really been a fan of Volvo, but with deals like this, I have to take a second look.
