CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee — Volkswagen is giving the curious yet another look at its forthcoming new midsize sedan, releasing another sketch of the car that is slated for market introduction in late 2011 as a 2012 model. The car, which will butt heads with the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, is known internally as New Midsize Sedan or NMS.
It will be built at VW's new plant here.
The NMS will be about the size of the Volkswagen Passat but is expected to be priced lower than the Camry and the Accord. It is being developed for North America but it could be built and sold in other markets.
The sketch shows a European-flavored sedan that should appeal to consumers who find the Camry and Accord a bit bland. VW is intent on boosting its sales volume by undercutting the kings of the family-sedan market.
Inside Line says: VW appears to be right on track in luring in consumers who find the Passat a bit too pricey in an era when value is the key. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

Nice to see they didn't give it the Golf front end. There's some depth to the grill. I can't wait to see a concept model.
