DONZDORF, Germany — This year's Dakar Rally was barely history when German tuner Hofele Design was pulling the wraps off its Touareg Dakar.20.10, a special edition of Volkswagen's rugged off-roader.
While the Race Touaregs finished 1-2-3, the Hofele edition is much closer to the production model, which has little in common with its motorsports sib.
The tuner special gets a "range look" grille, stainless steel skid plate and side steps, silver-painted Prado designer wheels shod with 265/45R20 rubber, plus the usual assortment of special decals.

Agreed, and that skid plate isn't going to do much good if it rides as low as this picture looks.

With "rugged" shiny stainless steel sidesteps, this seems to take the Dakar name in vain.
