    Just the Facts:
    • German tuner Hofele Design tweaks the Volkswagen Touareg TDI.
    • Hofele provides an aero body kit, suspension upgrades and an interior makeover.
    • The car's 3.0 TDI engine gets more power and torque.

DONZDORF, Germany — Hofele Design, which tunes a number of brands in the Volkswagen Group from its shop here just east of Stuttgart, is now offering its own unique take on the VW Touareg TDI, called Hofele Royal GT 470.

Hofele has tweaked VW's 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, boosting output from 238 to 272 horsepower and torque from 369 to 428 pound-feet. Exhaust now exits through quad stainless-steel tailpipes, available in oval or round shapes. Hofele says 0-60 acceleration takes less than 6.9 seconds, with top speed rising to 142 mph.

The Royal GT 470 aero body kit for the Touareg consists of wheel-arch extensions, a new rear apron and diffuser and a new front fascia and grille, complete with Hofele's distinctive crest.

An electronic lowering module can drop the Touareg's air suspension 1.6 inches at speeds up to 50 mph. Customers also can select from a variety of alloy rims, in diameters from 20 to 22 inches.

Hofele's "StarLight" interior package features two-tone quilted leather with stripes and decorative stitching, as well as the option to trim the armrest and door panels in leather.

Inside Line says: Curiously, the exterior treatment is far more tasteful than the interior makeover.

Great V10 engine, but Hofele's tune is a joke.  Diesel trucks are doing 1000hp out of a I6.

So this is an upgrade to basically match the output of BMW's 3.0 diesel (265 hp/ 425 lb-ft)...not impressed.  The styling upgrades are a matter of taste, I suppose.  What does it cost?
