Volkswagen Rolls Out Wolfsburg Edition Jetta 2.0T

    AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — Volkswagen of America has introduced the 2008 Wolfsburg Edition Jetta 2.0T at a starting price of $21,515, including a $640 destination charge. The German automaker says it will build about 12,500 of the special-edition models named after the company's headquarters.

    The Wolfsburg Edition Jetta is equipped with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. The base model gets a six-speed manual transmission. Expect to pay $22,590 for the uplevel model with the optional six-speed DSG automatic transmission. In comparison, a base 2008 Volkswagen Jetta S starts at $17,630.

    The special version of the Jetta is distinguishable by its 17-inch alloy wheels, leatherette seats and Wolfsburg Edition badging.

    The Wolfsburg Edition is becoming a Jetta tradition. Last year, VW introduced the 2007 Wolfsburg Edition Jetta 2.5 L.
