WOLFSBURG, Germany — To mark the 35th anniversary of the GTI, Volkswagen is bringing a trio of fast Golfs — including the Golf GTI Edition 35 production car, the all-new Golf24 endurance racer and the restored Golf GTI 16S from 1977 — to the annual GTI Meet this week at Worthersee, Austria.

VW also has released a YouTube video of the GTI Edition 35 titled "Are You GTI Enough?"

along with a video of the Golf24 racecar.

The Golf GTI Edition 35, the most powerful production GTI ever, is being offered on a limited basis to European customers from around $43,000.

Also celebrating the 30th year of the GTI Meet in Worthersee, VW Motorsport is showing off its Golf24 racecar, which will compete later this month at the Nurburgring 24-hour race.

The all-wheel-drive Golf24 is a new design that VW Motorsport describes as its "Super Golf," spitting 434 horsepower from its turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-5 engine.

VW is fielding three Golf24s at the Nurburgring.

A vintage Golf GTI 16S Group 4 racecar from 1977, powered by a 212-hp 1.6-liter Oettinger-modified engine and restored by KWL Motorsport, will compete in the three-hour classic race that precedes the 24-hour race at Nurburgring.

Build the flared out version of the GTI 24 for the street, w/434 horsepower, and that look, I will instantly sell what I am driving and buy one. That race car looks just sick.

Not impressed by any of these so called "limited edition" goods. It's nothing but a marketing ploy to create hypea and charge more for the same thing. When you think about it, every car model is limited edition except maybe for the Porsche 911 because each model year ultimately ends.
