- MTE updates its own Golf R32 BiTurbo.
- The VW now pumps out 785 horsepower and 586 pound-feet of torque.
- Top speed is limited to 193 mph.
BAD DUEBEN, Germany — Tuner MTE isn't content to leave well enough alone — it continues to massage its own Golf R32 BiTurbo, which in its latest iteration produces a healthy 785 horsepower and 586 pound-feet of torque.
Based on the Golf IV, the current version of the MTE R32 BiTurbo has been fitted with a pair of Garrett GT28/71 turbochargers, with MTE supplying an intercooler, forged pistons, larger injectors, uprated cams and crank, machined cylinder heads, turbo intake manifold with water methanol injection, and a cast iron exhaust manifold exiting through a stainless steel exhaust system.
Last year, running a boost pressure of 1.6 bar, the R32 BiTurbo returned 730 hp. This year's edition has a revised ECU, with boost pressure hiked to 2.2 bar and a Vmax-chip-limited top speed of 193 mph.
Additional hardware modifications include a Sachs Racing twin-disc clutch, KW Variant 3 coil-over suspension, high-performance brakes with Brembo six-piston calipers, and RH Turborad wheels with 225/40ZR18 semi-slick tires.
So far, MTE hasn't released footage of its latest effort, but YouTube has several videos of last year's 740-hp R32 BiTurbo, including this one:
