- A refreshed Volkswagen Eos convertible debuts at the 2010 L.A. Auto Show.
- The front and rear fascias are updated, as is the cabin instrumentation.
- Expect the 200-hp 2.0T motor to carry over unchanged.
HERNDON, Virginia — Volkswagen's updated 2012 Eos will make its first public appearance next month at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. The refreshed convertible goes on sale in mid-January in Europe and early spring in the U.S.
VW released advance images of the Eos face-lift, which includes a new nose and tail and revised interior.
The 2012 Eos features a new grille, new headlights (with LEDs in each cluster), LED taillights, and a new rear bumper with a diffuser.
A multifunction instrument panel with color display, second-generation park assist, a keyless ignition and automatic headlamps are among the features.
Currently, the Eos in the U.S. features VW's 200-horsepower, turbocharged and direct-injected, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, and the 2011 model is priced from $33,710, including shipping. Don't expect horsepower or pricing to budge much on the updated 2012 convertible.
VW said the European-spec 2012 Eos will start at $39,929 in Germany and will be offered with a range of turbocharged engines, both gasoline and diesel.
Inside Line says: VW still hasn't quite figured out how to enhance the popularity of the Eos in the U.S. market. A modest refresh probably isn't going to move the needle much. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

i am not a chick and have an older 2008 EOS 3.2/VR6 model which they don't offer anymore. i haven't had any issues but there was a letter stating i should get the DSG "Mechtronic" (i think) checked out. other than that, it is 250 HP of fun. i like that i can open/close the sunroof at will and take the whole top down in about 25 seconds.
it is a sportY car and not a sports car. i test drove the 3 series and Volvo C70 and found this one to be a better fit for me. i always recommend test driving as many models as you can so you can compare. i fell in love with this one and am happy i got it.
paddle shifters are cool but i drive in "automatic" mode more often as it is better with fuel economy.

I'll stick with the previous design.

I know the NA 2.0T is a good engine, but I don't think it has enough power for such an expensive car as the Eos. There are a lot of nice cars (albeit without folding hardtops) in this price range that have lots more power.
And it is not just that the engine has only 200 hp, it is the fact that VW refuses to give the US the more powerful turbo, which I believe is a 2.0 also. So, I ding VW for not bringing the goodies into the US. (Germans like the word "goody".)

I don't think most VWs are chick cars. Maybe more women drive Beetles, but I see a lot of guys driving Jettas, CCs, and especially GTIs. The only woman I've ever seen driving a CC is my wife, and damn she looks good in it.
:-)
"Small and cheep build.. In other words, this is cool looking crap. No thanks, I'll take a GM, Ford or Japanese product instead."
I'm impressed you've been able to sit in and evaluate a car... that's not available yet. Care to refrain from judgement until you've experienced one? In 18 months of VW ownership I've had two issues: my son broke off the handle on the sliding compartment btw. the rear seat (fixed under warranty) and my iPod skipped a few seconds into each song (fixed with a software update). So far the dreaded VW reliability monster has not reared its ugly head. The materials in my CC Lux are of much higher quality than the vehicle it replaced, an '06 Honda Accord V6.

I really like this refreshed Eos!! I wonder if its too early for them to refresh that mk6 Jetta..... That thing needs some serious reworking....
Why does everyone consider Vw brand a chick car brand? I think they are very neutral looking and unoffensive and scream "BUY ME!" rather than "I'm a muscle guy!" or "OMG this car is sooooooooo cute!". I see Vw cars as looking about the same as toyotas but no one says "That Camry is a chick car!".
I have a Beetle 1.8T 5speed and i'm a guy and its been a great car!

I thought all of VW's cars were "chicks cars" lol. Then again I've only ever owned American muscle/pony cars.
Chente- why do you feel the need to reinforce your macho manhood here? No one is impressed . Are you just insecure and need to overcompensate?

Hey OffRoadBob1 .. I am one of those "boys" you refer to in your comment except I despise Show Tunes and drive a '10 GTI.
What highway do you drive on routinely?

A $33k VW is just like selling a Phaeton is U.S. for $60k.
Why VW over BMW ?
Why Eos over 128i ?
Why Phaeton over A8 ???
