I like it, but I would never buy, sight unseen. I am worried that VW has cut back on interior materials, as they did with the new Jetta.

That's the best looking Beetle I've seen yet from the company. Or maybe I should say, that's the first Beetle I wouldn't be embarrassed to be seen in as a man. Since I don't buy German automobiles it won't ever happen anyway, but still, not a bad looking redesign of a total chick car in it's previous form.

@ed124c, Not everyone wants a sunroof as standard equipment. It adds a whole bunch of weight, and puts in the worst place possible, as high as it can get. It would be slower, brake farther, and handle worse than one without a sunroof.
And, it's still a good price for what you get.

No matte Black? Doesn't VW know people will pay 5 grand for paint that looks like their BBQ grill? They should call BMW for marketing advice.

Does this have all the performance goodies of the GTI like the XDS, same size brakes and other performance suspension bits? Is it an independent rear or twist beam?

If the Black Turbo doesn't include a sunroof at that price, then it is overpriced.

I hear the interior is much improved too........but I would really need to love it to get it over a cheaper GTI

The differences are subtle, yes, but it looks pretty damn good to my masculine eyes.
