- Toyota will show its new Verso-S microvan at the Paris auto show.
- The 157-inch-long van is based on the Toyota Yaris.
- It goes on sale in Europe in early 2011.
TOKYO — Toyota will re-enter the European B-MPV segment with the new Verso-S, a version of the redesigned Ractis. The Yaris-based microvan will make its world debut later this month at the 2010 Paris Auto Show and will go on sale in Europe in early 2011.
Toyota said the Verso-S, which measures less than 157 inches long, will be the shortest vehicle in a growing segment that includes the Opel Meriva, the Citroen C3 Picasso and the Renault Modus.
The automaker said the Verso-S will be "an object lesson in space management" featuring "a practical, flexible interior design [with] maximized usable space."
Inside Line says: The Verso-S will occupy a slot in Toyota's European lineup that was vacated several years ago when the Yaris Verso was phased out. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

I'm glad K55 picked up on my geographical jest . What I was trying to say was that up here in
the permanently frozen tundra we actually buy lots of small wagons and hatchbacks like they do in Europe.
For example, the Focus wagon and hatchback sold better up here than the sedan version but Ford stopped making them anyway.
Because the People's Republic of Canuckistan usually gets lumped in with the wagon hating American market it is unlikely this Verso/Yaris wagon will ever see the light of day either side of the 49th parallel.

@sdiego
The first generation Yaris Verso was a small van similar the Renault Kangoo and Peugeot Partner,
far from the concept of the first generation Fit/Jazz.

At least the dash is better looking than a Fit's.

Why may this petite van not be sold in US?
Because one of main reasons is that 3 quatars of US population is either overweight or obese. Thus it is politically correct to ridicule small cars other than people.

It does look like a Honda Fit. However, Toyota had this kind of similar platform back in 2000. http://www.toyota.co.uk/cgi-bin/toyota/bv/frame_start.jsp?id=Heritage_YarisVerso_Main

no, it won't fit 7 or 8. That's why it's a micro.

This model would probably do well in European countries like Canada but Americans
will never want it while gas is so cheap.
When did Canada move to Europe? I thought it stayed right where we put it....directly over our heads.

Toyota's another shameless rip off copy of Honda product Fit. Toyota has done that many times in the domestic market. The size of automaker should have more pride in originality in its product line.

Van?? Does it fit 7 or 8 people in there??
Just another Toyota's effort in tricking people into buying this "Microvan"???
