GENEVA — The Toyota Verso, a seven-passenger crossover vehicle for young Euro families, is getting a significant redesign for spring. Its official debut is next week at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show.
The new Verso goes on sale in Europe in April, with new sheetmetal that carries familiar Toyota family design cues. Look more closely, and you notice that the 2009 edition is longer and wider, with more interior space. The middle and rear seats fold flat and can be individually stowed. A longer wheelbase should enhance ride comfort.
The company will offer a choice of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, which can be mated to a six-speed manual or a new CVT.
Inside Line says: Toyota Europe's answer to the Matrix is aimed more at young families than singles. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
