TORRANCE, California — Toyota is recalling about 8,000 2010 Tacoma 4WD trucks because a crack in a component could lead to separation of the driveshaft, the automaker said in a statement.
The Tacoma is also part of a larger Toyota recall for accelerator pedals that can get trapped by the driver's floor mat.
The latest recall involves the front shaft that "may include a component that contains cracks that developed during the manufacturing process," said Toyota. "As those vehicles are used, the cracks may eventually lead to the separation of the driveshaft at the joint portion."
Toyota dealers will inspect the trucks and may replace the front driveshaft. Toyota said it will notify owners starting in mid-March. Customers can contact Toyota at 800-331-4331. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has yet to post any information about this Tacoma recall on its Web site.

Is it my imagination or is it a fact that the only toyota products that have a problem
are the ones assembled in the USA. I do not buy the fact that the floor mats cause
acceleration. Think about it if the mat is stuck under the pedal in a fixed position
how or what would cause it to accelerate. The speed should stay the same..
I feel that the problem is in the electricaly operated throttle body of the vehicle.
Years ago volvo amongst others had the same problem. I feel that Toyota should
extend the warranty of these vehicles at no additional charge .

I think Insideline is not kicking Toyota's balls. They are simply letting everyone to tell the government and other manufacturers out their how consumers point of view about their companies.
I am pretty sure CNBC had read about Insideline. They have an acticle is called " Toyota's Problem are Washingtion's Problem"
NHTSA those idoits need to be fire. What have they done BEFORE any recall happens???

Inside line, you need to stop kicking Toyota in the balls... we get it! It's not the only car company with recalls, so why not create a section dedicated to recalls for all cars. There are other sites that do that, I know, but since you & the rest of the media are so obsessed with bashing Toyota, would it kill you to fair and honest.
I'm not even a fan of Toyota's and I find this annoying!

Ford and Nissan use the same part, and they have MORE vehicles with the defective part. But neither Ford nor Nissan is doing a recall. Hmmm
Maybe the media is SO focused on Toyota, they're getting blind to what else is going on. But one would think Edmunds would be above that.
Anita, when do you plan on reporting ALL the facts?

Microscope look at Toyota dirty laundry. The rest hide their dirty laundry the best they can with little notes mailed to your home for a "schedule manufacture maintenance update".

Ford and GM has recover I am pretty should Toyota will. If Toyota lose market shraes its a good thing for consumers. This world should be a free world that consumers can choose what to buy.
Now for those U.S. auto companies can now sell their European fleet to the American car buyers.
??? American Made ?? By Ford, GM, Crisisler ????
How about Toyota being American made ???
What are the chance of the next American made car beig recall, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, BMW X, Mercedes Benz GLK/ML/GL, VW Routan ???

Honda's recall is NO WHERE near as bad as Toyota's. Toyota has pretty much recalled every one of their American Made Vehicles, the only vehicles left are the yaris and 4runner. Honda is recalling 07-08 fits for a window switch that can overheat, and the other recall is an airbag problem on OLDER models, mine being part of that recall (2001 Honda Accord). For a 9 year old car i can forgive that. Its the fact that toyota has pretty much recalled their entire lineup from 2005-2010... They FAIL BIG TIME HERE. I wonder if they will every recover from this? In the past people bought toyota's for their reliabilty and quality, if they lose that (and they have) who will want to buy their products? NO ONE buys a toyota bc its fun to drive or is a stylish car.
