TORRANCE, Calif. — The 2009 Toyota Tacoma's pricing will range from $15,855 for the base regular-cab model with a four-cylinder engine to $27,760 for a top-of-the-line double-cab long-bed Tacoma with a V6, Toyota has announced. The Japanese automaker noted that "the overall average MSRP for all Tacoma models increases $1,104, or 5.1 percent" for 2009.

The aforementioned prices include a $685 destination charge. The 2009 Tacoma is on sale now.

The '09 Tacoma gets a mild freshening with an argent-painted grille, LED taillamps and four new color choices. All models are equipped with vehicle stability control and traction control as standard equipment for 2009. Other new standard features include an automatic limited-slip differential, roll-sensing curtain and seat side airbags as well as front active headrests.

The cabin gets what Toyota calls a "new and enhanced standard equipment audio system." All models have AM/FM radio, auxiliary audio input, MP3-capable CD player and satellite radio capability.

What this means to you: Even as truck and SUV sales sag in general, expect to pay a bit more for the 2009 Toyota Tacoma. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
