CAMBRIDGE, Ontario — In a tangible sign that automakers are beginning to shake off the effects of the recession, Toyota on Thursday announced that it will add a second shift to build more RAV4s at its Woodstock, Ontario, facility starting in March.
Toyota said it will add more than 800 jobs and increase RAV4 production to 150,000 vehicles.
It said "high demand" for the RAV4 is the reason for the increase in jobs and production. The additional 800 jobs will increase total employment at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada to about 6,500 jobs, Toyota said in a statement.
Inside Line says: We'll look forward to similar announcements from other automakers as it appears the recession is on the wane. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

This could be a move for conventional RAV4 being produce in North America, and keep the Japanese production line for the future Compact Hybrid SUV (RAV4 Hybrid). Smart business move be I agree davesuton says: "Great. Now we can just wait for the recall."
