TORRANCE, California — Toyota has announced that it will introduce the EV version of its RAV4 at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. The unveiling is set for November 17.

Toyota developed the electric RAV4 in a joint project with Tesla Motors of California, in which the companies put a Tesla electric powertrain into the crossover.

This is actually the second-generation RAV4 EV. Toyota previously created an electric version of the RAV4 for the lease market and then for sale but discontinued it in early 2003. At that time the company said it was committed to the idea but needed to wait for greater consumer acceptance, since it only sold a few hundred.

Hey, Yanker ... did you even read the fricking text?  This is a FULL ELECTRIC vehicle.  The Priss is a HYBRID GAS-ELECTRIC vehicle.

Apples and oranges, there, Wanker.  Apples and oranges.

As far as getting more information, it's called Google, Wanker.  I just found 8 articles on the upcoming RAV-4 EV.

    Learning: try it sometime.

they're not putting the drivetrain in an old rav4 body you dolts! that's a pic of the OLD rav4 ev (though, true, not from 92. try 97 and up). its being used as a (extremely) relevant comparison to the new rav4, of which there are no pictures, yet.

Unless that picture is from some other universe, the RAV4 was not part of the Toyota line in 1992!  And yes, why put an electric engine in an old RAV4 instead of a newly redesigned 2012 version...which Toyota needs!

So much for all of those on this forum that criticize the Volt's looks.  the only thing good looking on this vehicle is the EV logo.  I just don't see how putting a big battery in an old Rav4 chassis and branding it as some prototype of the future is useful to Toyota.  Exactly how far behind GM and Nissan are these guys?

Nobody mentioning anything about body style.
Are we talking current body style or something else?
Is it not due for complete redesigned anyway?
