TOKYO — The Toyota Prius has been named Japan's 2009-'10 Car of the Year. The award, announced live at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show, gives Toyota its second successive JCOTY title and the Prius its second win, with the first having been in 1997.
Second was the Honda Insight. Third was the new Volkswagen Golf, which also drove off with Japan's Import Car of the Year award.
The Prius' victory was hardly unexpected. Toyota's hybrid icon is way out in front in the Japanese sales charts and was the clear JCOTY favorite right from the outset.
All the same, Honda has many supporters inside JCOTY, and the Insight made a strong 2nd-place showing, polling 391 votes to the Prius' 433. Volkswagen's Golf IV finished a long way back with 186 votes to round out the top three.
Japan Car of the Year also awarded its Most Fun prize to the Nissan 370Z. The new Subaru Legacy was deemed Best Value. The tiny electric Mitsubishi i MiEV took the prize for Most Advanced Technology.
The Toyota iQ took the big honors last year in an upset, defeating the Nissan GT-R. The original Toyota Prius also won JCOTY back in 1997.
Inside Line says: Seemingly, it's Prius' world and other cars just live in it — for now, anyway. — Peter Nunn, Correspondent

I need help with my 1990 Toyota Celica.
It has the hideaway headlights. They are so dim that it is hard to see anything at night. I thought it was a ground so I ran a seperate ground wire to them but it did not help at all.
Is there anyone out there that has had this problem or might offer advice?
I sure want to fix this because it has 240,000 miles on it and still gives me 37 MPG and runs great!
Thanks! Jenkstrojan

mboop the brake issue with Toyota was made up by the UAW and the democratic backed lawmakers in Washington. the test done by nhtsa and NASA found it to be driver error aka Toyota not guilty. Toyota took 80% of the cash for clunkers government give away.
sledneck88 you are right on go Toyota and Kyle Busch JGR.
jayare49 thank you i have mentioned the same thing and brain washed people will not accept the truth about were these cars are made and assembled.

Well, I feel that the Toyota's, Volkswagons, etc. do a great job. It it the american shop unions that has buried all th GM plants, with wanting more and more money, then the prices of cars get jacked up, and if you don't work for GM, then you can't afford to even buy a car. And what's with them getting the discounts and not everyone else????? My father worked for GM as did many member of my fammily, and, no, I'm not against the GM workers or GM. I just feel that they want, want, want, and they do get, get, get. But how is the average person supposed to be able to buy a car when they are priced so darn high that you have to make at least $75,000.00 a year in order to be able to afford one. I just don't feel sorry for the GM people, they did this to themselves.........So when I do buy, I will buy foreign. How are we supposed to make good cars here in America when most of the workers are either HIGH or DRUNK when they make our cars? Then they wonder why there are so many recalls. In my next life I want to come back as a foreigner.........LOL....but i'm not joking, they get more privvies than the middle class people here...............Think about it.

I know this may sound crazy, but did the guy that had the run away prius just fill his tank with gas, and if so did he top it off!.. I have a saturn and when I top off the tank it screws up the computer! the car won't shift right, and it cause a service light to come on.. I think it has to do with the air sensor getting saturated with gas and it freeks out the computer..
If that is happening, then it could be possible that it is causing a temporary glitch in the computer system..
Worth a Look!! I can't find anyone owning up to the Saturn problem but I've done it twice with the same results! If I don't top it off I don't have the problem..

repairman2....***BUY AMERICAN***Ford, GM & Chrysler products are mostly made in Brazil, Mexico & Canada. (Example...2009 Ford Fusion...built on a Mazda platform, 4 cyl engine is made in Mexico, transmission is made in Japan and the final assembly point is in Mexico). I know that because I have worked for Ford for over 14 years total. My Camry is over 90% made in the USA.
***BUY AMERICAN*** My last 11 vehicles have all been Toyotas because I have worked for Ford, GM, Toyota & Chrysler since 1971. Go on line and look up "Ford & GM Plants in Brazil"!!!!!
OH WHAT A FEELING !!!!!!!!
