TORRANCE, California — The 2011 Toyota Prius Plus Performance Package, which goes on sale in July, will start at $3,699 for the Prius Two, Three and Four models and $2,999 for the Prius Five, Toyota said on Thursday.
The new accessory package was previewed at the 2010 SEMA Auto Show and features components of the new Plus hybrid performance line from Toyota Racing Development (TRD).
Toyota said the package will be "available only in limited quantity."
The Prius Plus Performance package spices up the Toyota hybrid with such touches as a seven-piece aerodynamic ground effects kit and 17-inch forged alloy wheels. It also bundles track-tuned lowering springs, a tuned rear sway bar and Plus logo carpet floor mats. It is available on Prius vehicles in four colors: Blizzard Pearl, Classic Silver Metallic, Black and Winter Gray Metallic.
Inside Line says: A cooler shade of green.

So much for truth in marketing, selling a package called sport that only addresses cosmetics might work in Japan, but in the US we attribute sport packages to increased performance. Adding weight to a car with an appearance package does not really increase performance, just profit.
