MINAMI-KU, Japan — After only giving us a little preview of its souped-up 2010 Toyota Prius back in September, Tommy Kaira now gives us a real look at its sports package for the Toyota hybrid by releasing a few photos and specs of the vehicle.
Performance-wise, the tuner adds a new braking system and a dual-pipe sport exhaust as well as a sport suspension that slams the vehicle and gives it a more aggressive stance.
The exterior treatment starts with a body kit that includes a front spoiler, grille trim, decorative front bumper trim, side skirts, a roof spoiler and an integrated rear diffuser. Tommy Kaira allows buyers to customize the colors of the body pieces with options including matte black, carbon fiber and body-color panels. To top it off, an illuminated blue Toyota badge adorns the front of the vehicle.
Aluminum alloy wheels in 15-, 16- or 18-inch sizes are available to complete the look, with 215/40 rubber for the 18-inch variants. The 16-inch rims come wrapped in 205/55 in the rear and 195/55 in the front.
Tommy Kaira offers a variety of ways for buyers to spice up the inside, with a carbon-fiber steering wheel customizable in several different colors, floor mats, reclining sport seats and seat covers as well as light-up side sills with the tuner's logo.
Random accessories available include a full HID light kit, Tommy Kaira logos and stickers and a sunshade. Check out Tommy Kaira's Web site for prices and further details.

I'm kind of surprised that Tommy Kaira would take the time to do this. I dont hate, but I'm still not gonna run out and by a Prius. It is sharp looking for a Pruis in my opinion. I would expect them to be unveiling a wicked GT-R or a STi though. Oh well.
Now to those of you who pick on this, if you understood Japanese car culture, you wouldn't be so harsh.

I'm not a Prius-hater, wish my neighbors drove these (quieter), but pimping what is supposed to be an eco-car with zero joy factor in driving seems pretty ridiculous.
Still, it's not as ugly as an Aztek (or the new crossover Accord hunchback).

The Prius is so ugly that it's beyond hope! It's even uglier than the Pontiac Aztek that's picked on all the time by the media.

I don't understand why some people find the need to make fun of a car and the people who drive it. Some of the comments I've read are insulting and rude; it shows a lack of maturity on your part. Some of us like the Prius for many reasons, not because it's just a hybrid. I own a Prius and I'm very happy with it. I also don't need to tell you why I bought one; it's none of your business. Be content with what you drive for whatever reason it is. I don't make fun of anybody's car; I wish you would do the same. As for all these mods, I frankly do not see them on a Prius. I think they're not only a waste of money, but ridiculous. I did not buy a Prius to pimp it up; it just defeats the very purpose of why I bought it. Then again, I'm sure there are people with a lot of money to throw away who might actually enjoy these mods. To each his/her own.

Ahhh doesn't this work against the fuel saving design of the Prius? e.g. Less weight, low rolling resistance. I personally dislike the Prius, but this is just dumb and illogical considering the point behind the Prius and Honda Insight.

wow tommy kaira. why don't we just leave the prius alone and let mugen be foolish and pimp out the honda insight. here's a tip: stick to tuning subarus. i really don't see any potential for this kind of vehicle...oh wait, it might appeal to the "i want to be enivronmentally aware and attempt to get my EPA mpg estimate yet look somewhat 'hip' and fit in with the 'tuner crowd' in hopes that i will look less environmentally conscious and more cool" buyer.

i've seen a lot of prius' with aftermarket wheels... they tend to be stock size though for some reason. its always just a middle aged person who can afford better cars but do it to be green, so maybe they don't know any better.
