TORRANCE, California — Toyota has announced that its 2010 Matrix will get a modest price increase and more standard equipment, including vehicle stability control and traction control. The 2010 Toyota Matrix will start at $17,270, including a $720 destination charge.

The 2009 Toyota Matrix starts at $17,010, including shipping.

Toyota said a top-of-the-line 2010 Toyota Matrix XRS with a five-speed automatic transmission will start at $22,680, including shipping.

The company also announced that the 2010 Toyota Corolla will not get a price increase. The 2010 Corolla starts at $16,070, including a $720 destination charge. Like the Matrix, the 2010 Corolla will also have standard vehicle stability control and traction control.

The 2010 Corolla and Matrix are due to arrive in showrooms in late February.

Inside Line says: The 2010 Matrix gets a modest price increase of under $300, offsetting the addition of desirable safety equipment. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
