    What is it?
    2000 TRD Celica GT-S

    What's special about it?
It was only a matter of time before Toyota's Racing and Development (TRD) team got their hands on the new GT-S and waved their magic wand over the Celica's already outstanding package. The TRD package includes a full body kit with front aero bumper/grille, a hood spoiler, rocker panel skirts, adjustable rear wing and a rear valance panel; a performance-tuned suspension with larger sway bars, a strut tower brace lowering springs, specially valved struts and 17-inch wheels and tires. A high-flow stainless steel muffler boosts horsepower by 14 ponies. As with all TRD components, the parts carry a three-year or 36,000-mile warranty.

    Why should you care?
In-house aftermarket tuning? It's happening at Toyota. Though not installed on an assembly line like the Ford SVT Cobra, all the parts are bolt-on-and-go in nature (the body kit components are installed utilizing factory attachment points). Don't be surprised if TRD brings more Celica go-fast goodies to market in the near future, as the GT-S is the perfect platform for Y-generation weekend racers. The TRD performance package goes on sale in March.
