TORRANCE, California — The 2010 Toyota Camry is the subject of yet another recall, this time for brake fluid leak that could cause "increased brake pedal stroke and greater vehicle stopping distance," said Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. on Tuesday morning.
The 2007-'10 Camry is also part of the recall of 2.3 million Toyota vehicles for sticking accelerator pedals, as well as a recall for floor mats that may trap the accelerator pedal. Notice of this latest Camry recall was tucked in at the bottom of the recall notice for the 2010 Toyota Prius and 2010 Lexus HS 250h for a brake problem.
Toyota said about 7,300 early production 2010 Camrys equipped with the four-cylinder engine are involved in this latest recall. Toyota dealers will "inspect for a power steering hose that may be in contact with a front brake tube," said the automaker. "This contact could lead to a hold in the brake tube and cause a brake fluid leak, increased pedal stroke and greater vehicle stopping distance."
Owners of those Camry vehicles will be notified of the recall by mail starting in mid-February. Those with questions can call the Toyota Customer Experience Center at (800) 331-4331.
