TORRANCE, Calif. — Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. will hold the world premiere of the redesigned 2007 Camry sedan and Camry hybrid on January 9, at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

In a statement, Toyota said the restyled and reengineered Camry "will feature significantly improved performance."

The Camry hybrid will feature the brand's Hybrid Synergy Drive, Toyota said. The Camry hybrid will be built at Toyota's Georgetown, Kentucky, plant, making it the first Toyota hybrid to be built outside of Japan. The Camry hybrid is expected to go on sale in spring 2006.

What this means to you: It's the first official word from Toyota on when the wraps come off two of its most important 2007 vehicles.
