What is it?
Suzuki XL6

What's special about it?
Think of the Suzuki XL6 concept vehicle as an oversized Grand Vitara. Designed specifically for the North American market, the XL6 features third-row seating. Captain's chairs are used for the front seats and middle row, with a bench seat for the third row. At 181.9 inches long, it's 17.3 inches longer than a Grand Vitara. The XL6's upscale interior will hold six people.

Why should I care?
The XL6 concept SUV demonstrates Suzuki's desire to expand beyond the compact SUV market. In fact, Suzuki stated that the XL6 is very similar to a production vehicle due later in 2000. This production vehicle could be an affordable alternative in the mid-size SUV market. However, we wonder how much cargo space the production vehicle will have, as well as what type of engine it will use. While the XL6 is longer than a Grand Vitara, it's also approximately 11 inches shorter than a Dodge Durango (which also has third-row seating). Suzuki made no mention of what kind of engine the XL6 had, but we hope the production vehicle will have something more powerful than the V6 found in the Grand Vitara.
