The Japanese automaker was slim on details about the fuel-efficient Alto, saying that more information will be revealed at the October 2 debut of the car. However, it says the new compact "offers light weight achieved through downsizing." It appears to be directly aimed at a European audience, noting that the Alto is "perfectly matched to European tastes."
The Alto was first introduced in 1979.
Fuel-cell technology will be in the forefront of Suzuki's efforts in Paris. Along with the SX4 FCV, the automaker said it will show off a "crosscage" that features a "simple, compact and lightweight air-cooled fuel-cell power system from British specialist company Intelligent Energy, plus a high-performance lithium-ion secondary battery."
