Maruti Suzuki R3: 2010 New Delhi Auto Show

    5 Ratings

NEW DELHI — The Maruti Suzuki R3, unveiled here at the 2010 New Delhi Auto Show, provides Indian customers with a sneak preview of the company's future MPV, which will be positioned in size and price below the Toyota Innova.

The R3 is a six-passenger compact van with three rows of seats and rear-hinged rear doors. It is built on a stretched version of the Suzuki SX4 platform. The Maruti Suzuki R3 will offer Indian customers a choice of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, as well as a compressed natural gas option.

Production is said to be at least two years away.

Now, I know its not fashionable to defend Suzuki, but all the Suzuki snubbing I read on the blogs is getting very tiresome and unnecessary.  I, too, used to carry around old stereotypes of what cars are good vs. bad.  Then, I did some common sense self-education.  I remember a time in the not too distant past when Audi, VW, Mini, and Ford were criticized for their less than reliable, so-so cars.  Now, many folks can't live without the Audi A4, VW CC, Ford Fusion, and Mini Cooper.  Not everyone can afford to drive an Audi R8 or Fusion Hybrid, nor does everyone want to do so.

For sure this is comming to the US, SUZUKI is speacialist in small cars and this is the future going forward . I really like the compressed gas version and I wish we have that in the US with an AWD why not?.

Even their concepts look cheap and awkward. I know roads aren't perfect there but can someone please create an Indian car with an attractive stance?
