BREA, California — Suzuki carefully priced its midsize 2010 Kizashi sedan below its key Japanese competitors, the 2010 Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. When the Kizashi arrives in showrooms in December, it will range in price from $19,734 for the base Kizashi S with a 2.4-liter inline-4 and six-speed manual transmission to $27,484 for the top-of-the-line Kizashi SLS with a 2.4-liter inline-4 and a continuously variable transmission.

Prices include a $735 destination charge.

In comparison, the base 2010 Toyota Camry with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and six-speed transmission starts at $20,145, including a $750 destination charge. The base 2010 Honda Accord LX with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission starts at $21,765, including a $710 destination charge.

Suzuki said standard features on the base Kizashi include eight airbags, push-button keyless start, dual-zone climate control, a nine-speaker audio system with steering-wheel controls, stability control, antilock brakes, projector-beam headlamps, power accessories and ambient lighting.

The sporty Kizashi GTS model starts at $23,234, including shipping. Upgrades include a Rockford Fosgate audio system with 10 speakers, Bluetooth, foglights and a power moonroof.

Inside Line says: A smart pricing strategy for Suzuki, especially if it wants to make inroads in this super-competitive segment. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

I didn't know Suzuki still sold cars here.  The death toll will be adding this, along with Mitsubishi, to the roster with Isuzu and Daewoo.
