2005 Suzuki Forenza Wagon
What's Special About It?
Last year's late introduction of the Suzuki Forenza compact sedan is largely responsible for a jump in Suzuki sales so far this year. Hoping to capitalize on the sedan's success, Suzuki adds a compact wagon to the Forenza model lineup. The all-new premium wagon combines European styling and class-leading passenger space for less dollars than the competition.
Penned by the Italian design firm Pininfarina, the Forenza wagon is expected to compete against popular wagon choices such as the Ford Focus wagon, Subaru Impreza wagon, Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback and the Volkswagen Jetta wagon. Suzuki hopes that a solid list of features including an eight-speaker audio system with steering wheel-mounted controls and safety items like weight-sensing advanced airbags and side airbags, in addition to a low MSRP (expected to range between $13,000-$16,000) will provide the wagon with the necessary punch to continue the Forenza's success.
What's Edmunds' Take?
Beyond its value, Suzuki expects the Forenza wagon's Pininfarina good looks will lure wagon shoppers into Suzuki showrooms. With additional benefits like its transferable seven-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, three-year roadside assistance program and courtesy car policy during warranty repairs, the Forenza wagon is a practical choice as well as a pretty new face.
