    What is it?
    Suzuki EV-Sport

    What's special about it?
A small two-seat roadster, the EV-Sport is motivated by a General Motors-developed electric power unit located behind the seats. The power unit drives the rear wheels. There's also a 0.4-liter gasoline engine installed in front that serves as emergency backup in case the batteries get depleted. Even with floor-mounted batteries, the EV-Sport is said to weigh only 625 kg. This is due to a lightweight aluminum space frame.

    Why should you care?
Suzuki's theme for the 33rd Tokyo Motor Show was "Small cars for a big future." Perhaps the best representative for this theme was the EV-Sport. Like a couple of Honda's concept cars, the EV-Sport is about driving fun while still being nice to the planet. Suzuki can make some cool stuff, but you wouldn't know it based on its current U.S. vehicle lineup. With something like an EV-Sport in the Suzuki vehicle lineup, we think there would be a lot more foot traffic in dealer showrooms.
