2008 SEMA Show: Suzuki SX and Equator

LAS VEGAS — American Suzuki will head to next week's 2008 SEMA Show with a trio of concept vehicles based on the SX4 and Equator.

The Equator Quad, which is based on the midsize Nissan Frontier pickup, was developed by Andry Specialty Vehicles of Torrance, California, to resemble a Suzuki QuadRunner ATV in military green. The crew-cab truck features 500-series foglamps, a safari-style front bumper, skid plate, tubular rocker guards, Yokohama Geolander tires on 17-inch alloy wheels and a Rockford Fosgate premium audio system.

The SX4t Turbo, featured in the November issue of Sport Compact Car, was developed with Road Race Motorsports, which provided a 16G turbocharger kit to hike output to 221 horsepower and torque to 208 pound-feet. Also fitted are Road Race GRIP springs and rear antiroll bar and a CarbonTrix hood, as well as Yokohama Advan Neova tires on 17-inch Rota five-spoke wheels. The vehicle is finished in Quicksilver metallic with dark-gray trim.

The SXForce ties together Suzuki's automobile and motorcycle ops with a 250-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter engine under the hood of an SX4 Sport that has been customized with a number of sport-bike cues, from mirrors and dual exhaust to suede-and-leather seats. The SXForce is finished in carbon fiber topped with Flash Pearl White and Orange Metallic paint. Other modifications include a performance-tuned Tein suspension, aero bodywork, a CarbonTrix rear wing and 18-inch Enkei racing wheels wrapped with Toyo T1-R tires.
