    Just the Facts:
    • Unveiled in Shanghai, the XV concept previews a crossover version of the new Impreza.
    • The XV uses a 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder and Subaru's continuously variable transmission.
    • The 2012 Impreza sedan and hatch debut in New York; the XV may return later this year as the Outback Sport.

SHANGHAI, China — Subaru on Tuesday unveiled the XV Concept at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show, saying the tall-roof five-door hatchback has an "urban stylish design" that "defines a new generation of crossover vehicle."

More to the point, the XV appears to preview the next-generation Impreza Outback Sport hatchback. The standard versions of the redesigned 2012 Subaru Impreza debut tomorrow at the 2011 New York Auto Show.

Subaru offered few specs on the XV, other than to say that it features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine coupled with a continuously variable transmission. The concept rides on a 103.7-inch wheelbase (similar to the production Impreza) and wears 245/45ZR19 tires.

Painted a garish Electro Yellowgreen, the XV sports a hexagonal grille, a panoramic glass roof and alloy wheels with black rims and silver spokes. The cabin showcases white leather seats, as well as mesh with yellow piping.

Hey Leinert.  What no mention of the ugly styling or "gross green" child like paint job?

    Another failure from Screw-by-you

The thing is just too small in terms of cargo capacity.   For a ski/boarding trip it's good for a 2 person trip and marginal for 3.  But w/ 4 people there just isn't enough room even w boards/helmets/boots in a box and rack on top.

If it was a foot longer ( like the sedan...) it would be a much easier choice...

I don't see Volvo in this design at all.  Whcih is great thing.  Volvo's design is terrible.  I want this!

LOOOOOOVE THIS!!!  There definately needs to be a REAL Outback version of the Impreza that mimics the larger Legacy-based version.  I'd buy this in a second!!!!

Subie thinks of itself as Lambo with this color. The car is quite ugly. Also rims are too much in the face.
