    What Is It?
    2004 Subaru Impreza WRX

    What's Special About It?
After a cool response to the bug-eyed styling of the previous version, Subaru decided to go with a more mainstream look this time around for its hot-rod Impreza WRX sedan and sport wagon. The revised front fascia was designed to not only modernize the look of the WRX but improve its performance as well. Subaru claims to have consulted closely with its STi (Subaru Tenica International) performance division on the changes and the result is reduced air resistance, better lift force balance and improved engine cooling. Projector-beam foglights were added with new four-element headlights to further clean up the STi new front fascia.

New sport seats offer additional safety and support in the form of integrated headrests and a more contoured design, while a redesigned instrument cluster placed the tachometer front and center and set all the gauges with silver trim rings.

    Why Should You Care?
Ever since the WRX's introduction in the States its only real flaw in the eyes of many was the goofy headlights. With this problem now solved, the WRX should have little trouble maintaining the immense popularity it has achieved in its few short years on the market. — Ed Hellwig
