LONDON — Subaru's exclusive Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 will go on sale in June. Only 75 copies will be built. Unfortunately none will be offered in the U.S., Subaru of America tells Inside Line.

Announced last month at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, the all-wheel-drive STI CS400 will be the most radical road-going variant yet of the Impreza WRX.

Tuned by British engine specialist Cosworth, with bespoke brakes by AP Racing, the STI CS400 will boast 400 PS (395 horsepower), good enough to propel the car from zero to 60 mph in less than 3.7 seconds — a full second and a half quicker than the standard STI.

Subaru said the car will get upgraded suspension and exhaust, with additional exterior and interior enhancements.

    Pricing will be announced shortly.

Inside Line says: Definitely worth getting on the wait list, that is, if you live in Europe. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

Well, for starters, the car is probably going to be priced around $120-$150k USD, NOT "300-400" so you won't be competing against Lambos or Ferrari's. Secondly, being an STI, the car should still be a good daily driver.

Don't believe this? Go check out the Mitsu Lancer Evo FQ400. Car's a (relative) bargain, grocery-getting, supercar, since who really needs 200+ mph when being quick to 60 is much more practical in daily driving?

I am starting to lose interest in reading about these one-off cars. What's the point? if you can afford it, any car company can custom make a car that can do 0-60 in 3 seconds by putting in a big turbo and big engine? Hennessy, Callaway are already doing that by modding existing Camaro, Vetter, GTR. Cosworth isn't really proving any thing. And I guess they will charge over $300K or maybe even $400K for this car with only 75 copies produced. The question is if this makes you cooler than driving a Ferrari 599 or Murcielago SV?

I would really like to see Cosworth stuff in North America again.

I am filthy rich, and I want both an FQ400 and a CS400, how do I go about bringing one of each to Miami, FL?

    Thank you for your time.
