    Just the Facts:
    • The final production version of the new Subaru XV crossover will be unveiled at the Frankfurt auto show.
    • A near-production-ready version of the new BRZ sports coupe also will be presented in Frankfurt.
    • The BRZ will feature an all-new 2.0-liter direct-injection four-cylinder boxer engine.

FRANKFURT, Germany — The final production version of the new Subaru XV crossover will be unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, along with a near-production-ready version of the new BRZ sport coupe, called BRZ Prologue.

Subaru on Wednesday released a rear three-quarter teaser image of the XV, which was revealed in concept form earlier this year at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show.

The XV gets all-wheel drive and Subaru's new dynamic chassis control. The automaker said the production XV will measure 175.2 inches long, 70.1 inches wide and 61.8 inches tall, on a wheelbase of 103.7 inches

The rear-drive BRZ coupe — better known colloquially as the "Toyobaru" because it shares underpinnings with the Toyota FT-86 — is expected to be displayed in final production trim in December at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show, with production slated to begin next spring.

The BRZ will feature Subaru's new 2.0-liter direct-injection four-cylinder boxer engine.

The coupe measures 165.4 inches long, 69.7 inches wide and 50.0 inches tall, on a wheelbase of 101.2 inches.

Will be 5sp man or CVT.  All this is, is the new Impreza Outback Sport.  Put the new diesel in there and then I will be interested.

I'm excited to see both of these future offerings from Subaru.  I'm concerned the new 2.0 flat four won't have the oomph to move the XV, so I hope it's available with turbo power and something better than four forward gears.  I'm tickled we'll have an affordable RWD sports car option, but I honestly don't see myself purchasing a BRX unless I can get it with something more than the estimated 200 HP.  It's too impractical for a daily driver, and not special enough for a weekend toy.  A 2.0 turbo with roughly 300 HP would do the trick.

I'd be VERY interested in the XV if they could keep it at around $20,000 nicely equipped.  I'm thinking that's not very likely, though...

P.S.  To Inside Line:  You should let people change their screen names!  I hated to do it, but I had to give up my Mustang, so my screen name isn't really accurate anymore.  Just sayin'.

It is about time that Subaru made a REAL Outback Sport which is really what the XV is.  Fat chance those wheels in that picture make it to production but this is one Subaru I'm looking forward to.

As for the BRZ, I like the name but feel let down with the outcome.  The BRZ should be all-wheel drive!!!  That is what makes Subaru....Subaru.  A rear-wheel drive Subaru just doesn't make sense to us in the north that buy Subaru so they can get through the snow without having to be stuck driving a CUV.  I'll say it again.....BRZ AWD!!!

I am not all that concerned about the looks of the Burz, but I am crossing my fingers that it WON'T have a black interior only.

I am interested also in the Toyota FT-86 version because, when I was a kid, I went nuts over the F-86 Sabre Jets.  (For you youngsters, that was one of the first jet airplanes to see combat.)
