Spyker Relocates Assembly to U.K.

    2 Ratings

ZEEWOLDE, Netherlands — Struggling Dutch manufacturer Spyker Cars is shifting assembly of its low-volume sports cars from the Netherlands to the U.K. Beginning in December, Spyker's British supplier/partner CPP (Manufacturing) will assemble Spyker cars at its facility in Coventry.

Spyker's engineering, sales, marketing and racing operations will remain in Zeewolde.

Spyker CEO Victor Muller said the move is being made to reduce costs: "By relocating vehicle assembly to CPP (Manufacturing), we secure the future of our business."

Muller said half of Spyker's components are sourced in the U.K., and nearly all of its key suppliers are located there.

Inside Line says: How ironic that the Dutch feel compelled to move their hand-assembled sports cars to the former center of Britain's sports-car industry. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
