FRANKFURT, Germany — Aiming to buff its credentials among younger, hipper buyers, Smart has teamed with Swedish "street fashion" brand WeSC and German tuner Brabus to create the Smart Brabus Tailor-Made by WeSC.
The partners' initial effort, to be displayed next week at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, is a special edition of the Smart Fortwo Cabrio.
WeSC — the initials stand for We Are the Superlative Conspiracy — was launched in 1999 by a group of skateboarders and snowboarders, and aims to inject a bit of the skateboarding culture into its footwear and other apparel.
The Stockholm-based fashionistas selected colors and fabrics for the Frankfurt showcar from the Smart Brabus Tailor-Made palette — notably a gold paint scheme that is partly matte and partly high gloss, accented with jet-black wheels and quilted leather seats.
Ahead of the Frankfurt show, Smart released a video on the development of the car.
Available for order now through Brabus, the car features a turbocharged 101-horsepower engine and a Brabus leather-wrapped sport steering wheel and gearshift lever, among other goodies.

Lipstick, rouge, and eye shadow on a pig - except they forgot the lipstick and rouge! At least paint it red for the "younger, hipper buyers" if you are going with a monotone color scheme, so they can think it is something fast, sporty, and special. Wow factor and all that noise.
