    Just the Facts:
    • Smart announces Hello Kitty vinyl exterior wraps for its Fortwo.
    • Twenty-two choices and combinations are available.
    • Prices range from $550-$1,700.

TORRANCE, California — It is now possible to swath your Smart Fortwo in Hello Kitty vinyl wrap for as little as $550, thus creating what appears to be the ultimate chick car.

Smart on Thursday rolled out the "supercute" wraps, which start at $550 for partial treatment and go up to $1,700 for a full-vehicle wrap.

There is a list of 22 choices and combinations, ranging from "Hello Kitty Forever" in pink and red to "Hello Kitty Peeking." There is also a "Hello Kitty Supercute" wrap.

Sanrio's Hello Kitty character first appeared on a vinyl coin purse in Japan in 1975, according to Wikipedia. The Sanrio Web site says: "Hello Kitty was born on November 1 and she lives in London, England, with her parents and her twin sister Mimmy. Her hobbies include traveling, music, reading, eating yummy cookies her sister Mimmy bakes, and best of all, making friends."

Sanrio explains that Hello Kitty is usually shown without a mouth so that "it is easier for the person looking at Hello Kitty to project their feelings onto the character."

Smart's statement on the wraps describes the feline character as a "global pop icon."

"Both Hello Kitty and Smart are expressive with a passionate following, and this is a special opportunity to bring the two fan bases together," said Kim McGill, Smart USA's vice president of marketing.

yes , un huh.....this was what was making me hold off my Smart Car purchase decision until now. This  will make the Smart ownership experience even "smarter".  Gimme a freakin break...

Typically I dont get caught up in the macho responses but this is so effeminent its not even on the radar.......If there is even 1 "man" out there who would drive this he must like Barbara Streisand and show tunes. Even if I dated a girl who drove this ........Can you imagine if she said " No ,honey its ok. I'll drive".
