GENEVA — Volkswagen's Czech unit, Skoda, has released images of its new Scout wagon, which will be unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show. The new model is intended to have a rugged appearance, complete with plastic body cladding, special bumpers and roof rails.
The new wagon will be on display alongside Skoda's new Yeti crossover, also debuting at Geneva.
The Fabia Scout will come with a choice of two gasoline and two diesel engines. Gas choices are a 1.4-liter four-cylinder making 85 horsepower and a 1.6-liter making 105 hp. Diesel power plants are an 80-hp 1.4 liter and the top 105-hp 1.9-liter engine. Despite the sturdy image, the Scout does not have four-wheel drive.
Cosmetically, the Fabia Scout gets special upholstery, tailgate and floor-mat Scout badging, stainless steel pedals and heavy-duty rubber interior surfaces.
Foglamps, tinted windows, and a set of special 16-inch Arktos alloy wheels are fitted, with 17-inch wheels optional.
The Scout will be available in Europe in May. Pricing has not yet been announced.
