    Model: SSC Ultimate Aero
    Styles: SSC Ultimate Aero
    Engine: 6.3-liter V8
    Power range: 1,287 hp
    Torque: 1,112 lb-ft
    Gearbox: Six-speed manual
    Configuration: Longitudinal midengine, rear-wheel drive
    Claimed top speed: 257 mph

Description: Here's the car from the tiny American company that, for two and a half years, stole the status of "world's fastest production car" from the almighty Bugatti Veyron. The Ultimate Aero is geared for even more speed (273 mph) and is proven aerodynamically stable to that speed in a NASA wind tunnel. So it's just a matter of making the power and finding the road to retake the record.

The Aero uses standard construction: A steel tube chassis houses the engine and supports the bodywork.

IL says: Well wrap us in the American flag, this thing rules. And with 1,287 hp it should be quick enough to get the job done.
