Scion xB Stretch Limo Set for 2010 SEMA Show Debut

    Just the Facts:
    • A Scion xB stretch limo leads a long list of customized Scion vehicles into the 2010 SEMA Show.
    • tC, xB and xD models will all be on display.

TORRANCE, California — Get ready for what may be the ultimate oxymoron at the 2010 SEMA Show — a Scion xB that has been gleefully transformed into a stretch limo.

The All Stretched Out Cartel xB has been lengthened by 48 inches with an 80-inch dual-suicide-door entry. Its creators say the custom xB is designed to create a "VIP buzz" — although it would probably garner lots of chuckles at a red-carpet event. Other details include custom onyx black base paint with red two-tone top and hand-laid pinstripes. The cabin gets a black leather couch, a custom bar and touch-panel lights.

Scion never disappoints at SEMA, and this year it will feature a wide-ranging lineup of over-the-top vehicles, as well as one striking tC Tuner Challenger by Shawn Baker that is an exercise in subtlety.

"Shawn is a huge fan of the clean look, so he wanted to emphasize the things that he enjoys most out of building a custom car — unique colors/finishes, raw performance and, of course, a super aggressive stance," said Scion in a statement.

Details on the Shawn Baker tC include a custom turbo, smoked headlights and a custom leather interior.

The Tarmac xD by 0-60 Magazine features a striking light pod on the hood with PIAA high-intensity lights. Other upgrades include performance friction brakes, a Sparco USA interior and a TRD rear sway bar.

The GReddy Scion tC churns out an estimated 340 horsepower thanks to a GReddy T67 turbo. Other goodies include a Five Axis aero package, a TRD Big Brake upgrade and Sparco Chrono Road black seats.

The Scion tC Time Attack by Crawford Performance gets an ATI carbon-fiber hood, vinyl graphics by Spin Imaging and an Alpine stereo in the cabin.

Tuner James Lin put his distinctive stamp on the turbocharged Scion tC Tuner Challenge. Details include a custom gold paint job, a long list of carbon-fiber treatments from the hood to the rear wing and Sparco Fighter seats in the cabin. "The foundation for the design process was his philosophy of building clean, innovative cars that can win at the race-street-show," said Scion in a statement.

John Pangilinan's take on the Scion tC Tuner Challenge includes a turbocharger kit, custom exhaust, Brembo Gran Turismo Big Brake kit with custom-painted calipers, carbon-fiber wide-body kit and a carbon-fiber-wrapped roof.

Also set for a SEMA debut is "The Squid," a modified Scion xB that is the work of a U.S. Navy team and winner of the grand prize in Scion's recent Battle of the Builds.

Mmm Hmmm, driving that xB on anything but a glass smooth road's going to be a real grinder.
I've seen similar limos get hung on bumps normal street cars laugh off.
But then again, most of SEMA's mods assume the same.

From a performance standpoint, all toyota made these days are worthless. When are they ever gonna go back to the old days with mr2's, celicas, supras? It's not that all car-makers shud make sports cars, but if they stop making sports cars, they start laying off all the "tech" guys and hire all the stupid market guys, and their culminating vehicles, sports or family, shows.

There is something that is just wrong with the stretch Scion limo...

Perhaps, it needs a hot tub!

    that might actually improve mileage.

Solid effort for the xD on trying to recapture Toyota's rally heritage by copying the ol' Celicas from the 90s, but from a performance standpoint its worthless. The Baker Tuner tC is also another good one, I too favor the clean look over all the stickers and vinyls and wings and neon.

    Neat stuff, Scion.

OK, the limo is cool. I imagine it is slow as molasses, but it is cool.

We have quite a few xB taxis here in Chicago. They are much more  comfortable for a tall guy than the old Crown Vic's and I usually will try and wait until I can find one if I can.
