    • The 2012 tC RS 7.0 arrives at Scion dealers this summer.

TORRANCE, California — The 2012 Scion tC Release Series 7.0 — the first release series for the second-generation tC coupe — hits U.S. dealers this summer, priced from $21,625 with a six-speed manual gearbox and $22,625 with a six-speed automatic. Prices include a $720 shipping charge.

Toyota is launching the new tC RS 7.0 with a clever "Zeus, God of the Awesome" advertising campaign.

Toyota plans to offer only 2,200 units of the tC RS 7.0, which features a new High Voltage yellow paint scheme with contrasting black side mirrors and black 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as a TRD body kit with front and rear lower valences and side skirts, plus a honeycomb lower grille.

The cockpit of the tC RS 7.0 gets black and yellow seat fabric, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with yellow stitching, a keyless entry system and push-button start.

All 2012 tC coupes come standard with a new 300-watt Pioneer audio system that bundles high-definition radio, Bluetooth streaming audio and iPod connectivity. Prices start at $19,295, including shipping, with the manual gearbox and $20,295 with the automatic.

The Pioneer audio system is shared with the 2012 Scion xB, which goes on sale in July. Prices start at $17,020 with the five-speed manual and $17,970 with the four-speed sequential shift automatic.

Inside Line says: The new tC RS 7.0 really does look pretty awesome — Zeus notwithstanding.

I purchased the 2012 Scion TC Release 7.0 model.  It has fog lamps, a spoiler, moon roof, and a black "scion" marking along the base.  It looks sporty, and I love it!  It doesn't have turbo, and yes is only a 4 cylinder, but has good acceleration and steering.

I agree, the car needed fog lamps and where is the spoiler?  I still love the car and can't wait to add to it!!!!

Look, if you are looking for performance, your not going to find it with a Scion.  I love the High Voltage...Steelers baby!!!!  All the haters are mad because their dealership didn't get one!!!!!

" Are people that into looks? "

Yes gotak, people are that into there looks.
For the most part, every time I see a TC going down the road its occupied by someone with over-sized sunglasses and a neon colored shirt.

Alright that's a big generalization on my part,.... but its marketed toward the clubber/hipster crowd.

A friend of mine drives the older Tc coupe and she loves it. This new one however,..... they took away its character......

    @ Gotak.

Yes, somewhere down the line they decided performance wasn't worth it. So make the car look sporty and drive like a bicycle. Inspiration: Ferdinand 911 GT3 RS

@blueguydotcom...$6K too high? Have you priced any of this cars competition? The base car at $19K is a pretty good value. I don't think this upgrade at $3K is worth it, but to say its $6K too much is ridiculous. It is reasonably sporty, has a ton of technology (300watt stereo, panoramic sunroof, etc). You can't find that stuff in many cars in this price range, with 180HP and 18's.

@shouldermonkey...it isn't a hunk of junk, and its a different class of car than the FR-S. FR-S will be RWD for one. Living in the Northeast, someone like me needs FWD or AWD. Plus this car has some cargo capacity, I dont know about the FR-S.

Im not a huge fan of this cars interior, but it is a nicer value than what people seem to think. I have just been researching cars in this price range and it is pretty competitive. The only cars close to it are the Juke and the Forte Koup.  The Civic Si is a couple grand more than the Tc or about the same price as this special edition, and for that you get 20 more HP and a bit less equpiment.
