We got our first look at the Scion FR-S concept at the New York Auto Show and now we have footage of the disguised production version testing in Germany. The FR-S is a joint venture between Toyota and Subaru. It will have a flat four engine, rear-wheel drive, a limited slip diff and a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions. Despite the psychedelic camo, we can see that the FR-S shape hasn't changed much from its concept. The front end sculpting and chunky fenders seem to have carried over. The rear looks to be a little simpler in production form and is missing the concept's elaborate rear diffuser. But those big twin pipes look like they belong to a proper performance car. The final production FR-S is expected to be unveiled at this fall's Tokyo Auto Show along with its Subaru-badged sibling and both cars will be built by Subaru starting next Spring.

"Your whole argument is faulty. First of all, nobody could ever confuse Baltic Blue Metallic for "blueish Green."
-I'm actually starting to wonder if you yourself have ever seen the Baltic Blue Metallic at this point lol. "Blueish Green" can cover anything from the a simple turqouise color, and as far as Midnight blue depending on the base coat. I find it incredibly amusing that you presume to know the exact shade someones eyes see when they are calling it "Blueish Green."
"Second, you are using his unsubstantiated claim of owning at least seven cars over an eleven year period to prove that he owned a Supra (this is illogical and his claims are questionable). For this to be true he either has a big garage or he only holds on to cars for an average of 1.57 years."
-Nice to meet you, I'm the substantiation. I've seen his cars, all of his cars, in pictures or in person, including the NSX, GTR, Eclipse, Evo, Miata, RSX, Integra, Forester, and Supra, etc. etc. etc. Mr. X is pretty fickle when it comes to cars, and needless to say he gets bored rather easily. Again, your ignorance shows in assuming you know anything about his track record with automobile ownership.
It also happens that I was an employer for Mr. X at a very successful dealership over an extended period of time, and it just so happens that YES, dealership do "sell" to buyers who they believe can make the purchase. Just because a car is 30k has nothing to do with whether or not the buyer would be interested in any of the additional services offered by the dealer. Someone working a $12 dollar an hour labor job can AFFORD an S2000. Doesn't mean that's the buyer you want to be pushing to it though.
"This is not a Scion blog, it is an online automotive enthusiasts magazine and blog which covers the gamut of automotive news, and as a Supra lover I will refute false claims made about them. I expect nothing less from Stingray454 who was wrong about this one but has been spot on in previous topics. So hush up son, the men are talking."
- I couldn't agree more. Inside Line is an amazing site for all things automotive, and in my 20 years of working around, in, on and underneath cars, it has proved to be one of the better sites I've come across. As far as you "refuting" false claims about Supras, I leave you with this: When a car dies off in production for a drop in sales and loses consumer interest, there is ALWAYS a reason behind it. I don't pretend to know what that reason is in the Supras case, but I do understand from numerous enthusiasts I've spoken to that the Supra was indeed "heavy feeling" and lacked the refinement of say a well tuned Miata.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge this car by its initial stats. I'm sure Toyobaru will use this as an initial platform through which they'll deliver high-performance variants (think V- or M-series equivalents).
I'm also enjoying the Supra comments in this thread. For its day, the Supra was a pretty spectacular car. But things change in time. It was $50,000 back in the '90s -- now, a $34k Mustang would boat race it, track or strip. Hell, the V6 would probably give it a run for its money around any decent track. Adjust for inflation, and that $50k Supra would now cost $70k, which puts it into Corvette Grand Sport/Z06 territory. Now you're talking a slaughter (stock for stock).
Then again, for a paltry sum, you can put said Supra into the 10s in the 1/4 mile. Hence the historic love. It's a legendary car, but keep things in perspective... the original Boss 302 Mustang did 0-60 in 6.9 seconds, which is slower than my wife's Fusion Sport. But the Fusion ain't the legend.

i think the 1 with the big wing is the SUBARU and the flat wing is SCION/TOYOTA.... reason the car has a set of STi wheels.... http://japanparts.com/images/ImageFromDB.php?base=1&no=18908 .....

"Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but as it turns out the color was Baltic Blue Metallic and it was prevalent in the '94 Supra. Nice try though...
As for ShahulX not being able to afford an S2000; dude has owned some of the nicest cars on the planet, most recently the GTR, so I highly doubt it was a cost issue. Most dealerships are pretty selective about letting any body hop in their newest "performance car" (S2000) when it is the first model year. But I guessed you'd know that if you were actually out keeping current on your research, instead of trolling Scion blogs to insult people."
Your whole argument is faulty. First of all, nobody could ever confuse Baltic Blue Metallic for "blueish Green." Second, you are using his unsubstantiated claim of owning at least seven cars over an eleven year period to prove that he owned a Supra (this is illogical and his claims are questionable). For this to be true he either has a big garage or he only holds on to cars for an average of 1.57 years. Third, you are erroneously claiming that dealerships do not allow qualified buyers to purchase their cars (This is not a limited edition Ferrari it is a 30k vehicle.) According to your line of reasoning, dealerships and salesmen looking to make a profit, discriminate against real buyers and hold on to performance cars for a particular customer. I assure you this is not the case as I have purchased several cars and sold cars during my college summers. All he had to do was allow them to run his credit. So perhaps it is you that is not "keeping current on your research" about sales practices of automotive dealerships. And lastly, you have not taken into account his ridiculous comments about the Supra, i.e. that it "felt heavy" and was not "up there" with the likes of a Mazda Miata.
This is not a Scion blog, it is an online automotive enthusiasts magazine and blog which covers the gamut of automotive news, and as a Supra lover I will refute false claims made about them. I expect nothing less from Stingray454 who was wrong about this one but has been spot on in previous topics. So hush up son, the men are talking.

FR-S doesn't look too bad, but it is yet again an under-performing, over-exagerating attempt by Scion to make a car "young consumers" want. Once the FT-86 becomes a reality, everyone can start looking at Toyota as a serious performance brand again. For now they'll just have to enjoy having the garish LFA in their lineup.

stingray454@ Chill out dude, I know you love you stingray, but bashing on Supra?
You know what is the original rival of Supra MK4? 300ZX. Because Supra of that time (1993) was too good to compete with 300ZX twin turbo, it went against 1998 Skyline GT-R R34 and 1998 Porsche 911 Turbo. Heavy and slow? Damn... 300hp+ car weighted no more than 3500lb from 15 years ago is considered as slow. I think Ferrari of that time wasn't fast either. Oh wait, your stingray is the fastest.

"I Did, 1994 in Blueish Green, stick... I did love the car, it was my 1st real "nice" car, as the Honda dealer wouldnt let me touch a S2000 (it was year 2000)."
So you purchased a 94 TT, 6spd Supra because you could not afford a S2000? BULLSH*T !
If you could not get a loan for a new S2000 how did you get a loan for a used Supra that was probably around the same price or more? A guy offered me over 20K for my 94 Supra last year (2010).
By "Blueish Green," you could only be referring to imperial jade mica or jewel green. Neither of which were available in a 1994 TT 6spd. In fact, jewel green was only available in a TT stick in 1997 and only 102 were imported. Even more rare, the imperial jade mica was only available in a TT stick in 1998 and only 14 were imported.
"Wasn't horrible, but compared to my miatas, evo's, boxsters and GTR... it wasn't "up there." The car always felt heavy, and not that oversteer isn't fun, but control and precision is nice too... Honestly I like Subaru (had a Forester and Outback turbo's sticks,) and wouldnt even consider this without subbies involvment."
This is the most ridiculous comment I have ever read on this site...

Stingray is here for comic relief. You can't lie to The People.
The Supra spent it's days breaking it's foot off in ZR1s
And it's nights stripping ZX and 968 of their dignity
It was a legend, and an icon. Still is to true enthusiasts, which explains your ignorance.
The FR-S will match the old MR2 Turbos abilities, wheel for wheel
Bank on it!

I can't believe you pinned that horse crap on this site. You are going to have a difficult time rewriting history when anyone can google the stats and performance numbers of the Mark IV Supra.
3,400 pounds, 320hp, 315 torque, 0-60 under 5 sec (I'v read as low as 4.4), Drag 0.32.
The 94 Ferrari 348 did 0-60 in 5.3
The Ferrari Testarossa 512 TR did 0-60 in 4.9 and cost over 200k
the 94 Dodge Viper did 0-60 in 4.6
If the Supra was such a slouch than how did it equal or out perform the fastest cars of its time?
