NURBURG, Germany — The 2008 Saturn Astra has been in the U.S. less than a year, and already spy photographers have spotted its replacement testing on the Nürburgring.

Like the current Astra model, the future hatchback will hit European showrooms first as an Opel model, reaching the States later wearing a Saturn badge.

Spy shooters managed to get a quick peek at the Astra prototype's interior. The photos reveal a center stack design with a raised display and slender, vertical air vents. Distinctive chrome-ringed instrument pods are also part of the design.

The 2010 Astra is expected to make its official debut at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show.

What this means to you: If the current Astra doesn't do much for you, the wait for the redesigned model won't be long. — Kelly Toepke, News Editor
