DETROIT — With the sales of its Saturn and Hummer brands pending, General Motors may unload its insolvent Saab brand by the end of the week, according to the Financial Times. The three brands are among GM's chief nonperforming assets — or money losers.
The Financial Times says Saab's three bidders include Swedish supercar-maker Koenigsegg; private holding company Renco, which bought and turned around the maker of Humvee military vehicles; and a third group of investors from Wyoming. The newspaper, quoting unnamed sources, said the three groups are meeting for talks with GM this week, ahead of the planned signing of a memorandum of understanding "with one or more of them."
Last week GM announced deals to sell its Hummer and Saturn brands.
