TROLLHATTAN, Sweden — Saab's new owner, Spyker, restarted the Swedish automaker's assembly line here on Monday, announcing that the brand's modest portfolio will grow next year with the addition of a new Saab 9-5 SportCombi wagon.
The first car off the Trollhattan assembly line under new ownership was a redesigned 9-5 sedan. A ceremony to mark the plant's reopening was attended by Saab Automobile CEO Jan Ake Jonsson and Spyker Cars CEO Victor Muller.
The Trollhattan factory had been shuttered for seven weeks as negotiations between Spyker and General Motors, Saab's former parent, drew to a close.
The factory is producing four different Saab models, including the 9-3 convertible. In 2011, it will add assembly of the new 9-5 SportCombi.

"a challenge to rekindle the enthusiasm" ??
I have a 9-5 wagon from 2000 (bought used in 2004) and I've waited this long for a replacement, I think I can wait a couple more years. I may end up with a 9-3 because of the high price of the new 9-5, but I'm quite excited about the new cars and the rebirth of SAAB.

If the 9-5 wagon with the 2.8 turbo can be priced around 50k.... next year... i will be taking a serious look at it next year.
